Insurance in Uganda: life, health, funeral and education cover
Insurance pays out when something goes wrong: life cover pays your family if you die, funeral cover pays funeral costs quickly, an education policy pays school fees on set dates, and health insurance pays medical bills. The kind you need depends on who relies on your income and what would hurt them most.
There is no single price to compare, because premiums depend on your age, your health, the cover you choose and the insurer. A common approach is to work out how much cover your family would need first, then compare quotes from licensed insurers for that amount.
Every insurer, broker and health membership organisation in Uganda must be on the Insurance Regulatory Authority's licensed list. Read the exclusions and waiting periods, and tell the insurer the truth about your health so a claim isn't refused.
Below are the guides for each kind of cover and a calculator that splits what your family would need into the cover that pays for each part.
