Insurance in Uganda: what sets the price
There's no rate to list for insurance. Here's what moves the price of each kind of cover, and where to get quotes.
Insurance in Uganda: why there's no single rate
Insurance prices depend on you: your age, your health, how much cover you choose and the insurer. So there's no fair rate to list. Work out how much cover you need first, then compare quotes from licensed insurers.
Term life cover
Pays your family a lump sum if you die during the policy term.
What sets the price
Your age, your health, the amount of cover and how many years it runs.
Funeral (last expense) cover
Pays a set amount quickly when a covered family member dies, for funeral costs.
What sets the price
How many people are covered, their ages and the payout amount.
Education (school fees) policy
Sets money aside for school fees, paid out on set dates.
What sets the price
The fees you're saving for, the years until payout and your age.
Health (medical) insurance
Pays hospital and clinic bills at the insurer's partner facilities, up to set limits.
What sets the price
The ages of the people covered, the hospital network, and the inpatient and outpatient limits.
Personal accident cover

What sets the price
Your job and the payout amount.
Savings (endowment) policy
Mixes life cover with savings and pays out at the end of the term.
What sets the price
How much you pay in, the term, and the charges.
